ITW Engineered
Fasteners one piece, self expanding blind Plasti-Rivet and Tuflok
fasteners provide fast, secure assembly of component-to-panel or
panel-to-panel applications. They are used for attaching trim, wheel
well liners and other components and accommodate wide variations
in material thickness.
Advantages
- Serviceable
design - Removable pin allows for multiple uses.
- Economical
- One piece molding cuts tooling costs.
- Dependable
- Exceptional shear and tensile strength.
- Appearance
- Trim finished appearance with color / grain matches.
- Blind fastening
method. Need to have access to only one side of the panels.
Disadvantages
- More expensive
than a single piece part like pinetrees or flex-clips.
- They have
a limited variation in the joint thickness being fastened.
- Require a
secondary operation to pre-drive the pin, which adds to the cost
of the fastener.
Performance
A typical 6.3 diameter Tuflok will have the following performance
values:
- Tensile Strength
= 130 lb
- Insertion
Force = 10 lb
Sizes
Tufloks range from 4.9 diameter holes up to 12.0 diameter holes with
the panel range from 0.8mm up to 34.0mm total stack-up.
Common applications:
- Trim Panels
- Wheel-well
panels
- Fascia Panels
- Bracket Attachments
- Windshield
washer reservoir attachment.
