| R
- loksŪ
R-LokŪ is
a two-piece, plastic expansion rivet that works with most conventional
hand or hand powered pop rivet tools. When installed, it provides
enlarged bearing surfaces to hold panels together securely without
restricting thermal expansion. Advantages:
- Assembly -
Easily installed from one side using a hand or air tool
- Appearance
- Trim finished appearance with color / grain matches
- Dependable
- R-LoksŪ have extremely high tensile strength
- Non-Corrosive
- Compared to metal rivets, R-LoksŪ will not corrode
- You do not
need access to the rear-side of the primary panel to install the
part.
Disadvantages:
- Need tool to
install parts.
- Performance
·A typical
6.3 diameter R-Lok will have the following performance values:
- Tensile Strength
= 135 lb Shear Strength = 170 lb Sizes
R-Loks range from
3.96 diameter holes up to 7.0 diameter holes. If you plan to design
a R-Lok for a larger hole, it is recommended that you step down
the pin to the 6.6 size. This will guarantee that the pin will fit
standard guns. Common
applications:
- Under front/rear
air dam or fascia
- Wheel-well
liners · Bracket Attachments
- Cargo net attachments
- Body side moldings
(Under body attachment)
Additional Notes
R-Loks are designed to have the pin break flush at the mid-point
of the panel range. For example, if the R-Lok has a panel range
from 3.0-6.0mm, the pin will break flush at 4.5mm. In a 3.0mm thick
panel, the pin will protrude above the body, and in a 6.0mm thick
panel, the pin will be recessed in the body. |
