| |
|
| EXTERNAL
TYPE: Should
be used wherever possible, as the tapered, twisted teeth
are on the largest radius to provide maximum torsional
resistance. Best used with a fastener having a round, pan,
binding or other head large enough to make contact with
the washer teeth. External tooth washers are also available
with left hand or alternately twisted teeth for special
applications. |
 |
| |
|
| INTERNAL
TYPE: Recommended
for use with smaller head screws such as fillisters. Also
recommended for applications where it is best to hide the
teeth either for appearance or to prevent scratching or
snagging. |
 |
| |
|
| HEAVY
DUTY INTERNAL TYPE: Recommended
for use with heavy bolts and nuts, and with heat treated
bolts usually on castings and heavy machinery or equipment. |
 |
| |
|
| FOLDED
RIM TYPE WASHERS: A
modification of the standard Shakeproof External Tooth
Lock Washer with the folded rim providing additional body
strength to resist extreme fastening stresses. |
 |
| |
|
| COUNTERSUNK
TYPE For
use with flat or oval head screws having either 82º or
100º countersunk angles. Also available with internal
teeth or flanged to provide locking action with concealed
teeth. |
 |
| |
|
| EXTERNAL-INTERNAL
TYPE Should
be used where a larger bearing surface is desired, for
oversized or elongated holes or as an insert between two
adjustable pieces where the adjustment - either rotational
or longitudinal - must be maintained after the original
setting. Because of the added biting teeth, External-Internal
lock washers are ideal for electrical bonding purposes. |
 |
| |
|
| PYRAMIDAL
TYPE Recommended
for applications requiring very high tightening torques.
This type has a unique design which provides both locking
teeth and rigidity, yet is resilient under heavy loads.
Both square and hexagonal shapes are available. |
 |
| |
|
| DOME
TYPE Available
with either plain or toothed periphery. Because they distribute
the load over a wide area, Dome Type washers are recommended
for use with soft or thin materials where considerable
force is needed for holding. |
 |
| |
|
| Also
recommended for oversize or elongated holes. Plain periphery
washers are recommended where surfaces should not be marred
by biting teeth. Toothed periphery washers should be used
where additional protection against shifting is required |
 |
| |
|
| DISHED
TYPE: Available
with plain or toothed periphery. Recommended for the same
applications and purposes as Dome Type washers, but should
be used where resiliency rather than rigidity is most important. |
 |
| |
|
| Both
Dome and dished Types are crowned or arched to support
the internal teeth so they can lock into the bolt head
or nut. Flat rim Dished Type Lock Washers are a variation
of the plain periphery and are ideal for plastic surfaces,
electrical components and similar applications. Has small
O.D. for limited space |
 |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| WIDE
RIM TYPE: Recommended
for use with large diameter screw and bolt heads and for
spanning oversize holes where extreme torques are not required |
 |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| .ALTERNATE
TWISTED TOOTH TYPE: Provide
both clockwise and counter clockwise locking action. Resists
rotation in either direction |
 |
| |
|
| NARROW
RIM TYPE: Ideal
for small head screws and for applications where appearance
or O.D. clearance are determining factors |
 |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| PIPE
LOCK WASHERS: Made
especially for locking nuts having an extreme internal
diameter in relation to the O.D. Examples are found in
lamp and instrument board assemblies |
 |
| |
|
| TYPE "B" TOOTH
FORM: This
alternative tooth form is available in most styles and
types. Preferred by some for heavy duty applications |
